Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell
rose to fame for his role as a character on "Saturday Night Live,"
before appearing in such big-screen comedy films as 'Elf"Anchorman,"
and 'Talladega Nights.' Will Ferrell was born in Irvine in the year 1967. He
began his career in comedy as a member the Los Angeles-based group The
Groundlings. After a seven-year run as a Saturday Night Live Cast Member,
Ferrell was one of the top comedic actors in the industry through off-color
successes such as Old School (2003) or Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
(2004). Ferrell was a co-founder of Funny or Die, a popular website for
streaming videos. He also achieved his success as a voice actor in animated
films , such as Megamind (2010). John William Ferrell, born on July 16, 1967,
in Irvine, California. The oldest son of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee
Ferrell and teacher Kay Ferrell, Will was--by his own admission, not the class
clown as a student at University High School. He was quiet and stoic, but he
chose to be a football player, setting a school record for the most field goals
scored. Even within the more relaxed confines of his suburban home, Ferrell
displayed little of the outrageous, funny outbursts that would later help
determine his career. His mother who was interviewed by Esquire reported that
her son was pleasant and kind. "You have any memories of those Matchbox
cars?" Will would arrange his Matchbox cars all by himself and be
completely satisfied. It would be like, "You want to go to Disneyland today
or arrange your cars?' It would be a difficult conversation for him to think
about. Ferrell was not a straight guy. A glimpse of Ferrell's comedic talent
was displayed every day at school when he disguised himself to announce the
events of the day over the loudspeaker system. Following his graduation in 1986
Ferrell was a student at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles,
where he was a member of Delta Tau, the Delta Tau fraternity and pursued the
field of sports journalism with a degree.
