Bruce Willis

Musician and actor Bruce Willis is well known for his wise-cracking or hard-edged characters, usually in stunning action films. Together, he's been in films with a budget in excess of $2.5 billion dollars. Walter Bruce Willis, a actor from West Germany, was born in Idar–Obersteinin West Germany on March 19, 1955 to Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey) who resided on a military base within the United States. His family moved to the U.S. shortly after he was born. He was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey in which his mother worked at a bank and his father was a welder and factory worker. Willis began to show an interest in dramatic arts during his high school. He was "discovered" while working in a New York City cafe. Later, he appeared in several off-Broadway productions. He was working as a bartender one night when a casting director noticed his charm and approached for his services as an bartender in a short movie. Willis was part of numerous auditions, before getting the role in the well-known romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. The sarcastic and wise-cracking P.I. is considered by some to be a dry run for the role of hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the horror film Die Hard (1988), in which Willis the character alone fought a gang of ruthless international thieves inside the Los Angeles skyscraper. He reprised his role as McClane in the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) that was set at snow-covered Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of renegade Special Forces soldiers seek to repatriate a corrupt South American general. The film's excellent box-office results led to a sequel to Die Hard with revenge (1995). This time, Samuel L. Jackson starred as a cynical Harlem shop owner who is accidentally forced to assist McClane in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on a scorching New York City day.
