Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada She was the daughter of Sandra Kay
(Gale), nurse and Lance Frederick McAdams, an auto driver and furniture moving
company. She is English--, Welsh-, Irish-, and Scottish. Rachel was involved in
acting as a teenager and by the age of 13 she was performing in Shakespearean
productions at summer theatre camp; she was able to graduate with honors with a
BFA degree in theater at York University. After her debut on television in
Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, Rachel appeared in Canadian TV's
Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy drama follows the struggles of Shakespearean
theater groups. She won the Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. Her first
big role was in Mean Girls (2004) as Regina George instantly landed her on the
list of Hollywood's most sought-after of promising young actors. She followed
that film with a star turn opposite Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the
Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004) which was a surprising box
office success that became the most popular romantic drama of a new, young
generation of moviegoers. McAdams and Gosling fell in love during filming and
continued to be together until the middle of 2007. McAdams then showed her
range on screen in the hilarious comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the thriller
Red Eye (2005), and the holiday drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams then
explored the independent film world with Married Life (2007), which debuted at
the Toronto Film Festival and also featured Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and
Patricia Clarkson. McAdams was seen in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play
(2008) and State of Play (2008), respectively. McAdams also appeared in The
Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's worldwide hit
Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the shrewd producer of a failing morning
television show in Morning Glory (2010), the sexy fiancee of Owen Wilson in
Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) as well as a return to romantic drama
with the hit film The Vow (2012) opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams also stars
alongside Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) and Noomi Rapace is Passion
(2012) in Brian De Palma’s thriller.
